Yoz girls. Just want to share a video that had inspired me during the last tutorial of Social Context.

It's about a young primary school teacher, Trevelyan May, who received the best teacher award in 2005. His students love attending his lesson which are very engaging. Partly because of the teaching tools he uses is interactive white board and he's very animated too.

This phrase must be familiar to you people right??

Here is an interesting website on apples=)

I love to eat apples, so when I came across this website, it just caught my attention.

This website provides information on apples. For example, they show you the different varities of apples.

The website also provides nutritional information on apples. Like eating apples will keep you healthy. It helps in colon cancer prevention and also it to lose weight!

The website also teaches how to slice/cut apples.

It also has a section just for kids. Kids can also go to this website to play some games, like mini quizes. There is also printable colour pages for children to colour on. Parents can just print it out for their children to keep them occupied.

Kindergarden teachers can use this website to teach the children about apples, and also to play some games like puzzles with them and print out colouring worksheets for them.

From this website, children can learn more about apples, and develop a healthy eating habit.

In addition, there is also a section for teachers.

I like the layout of this website and also the bright colours. It makes the website more attractive to look at.

Thus, I would recommend this website to parents with young children and teachers.

It is good to teach the kids from young to eat fruits as it is healthy! It is important to cultivate healthy eating from young.

I was researching and looking through the different websites, and I came to this website.

This is a nutrition website that provides easy online access to government information on food and human nutrition for consumers.

If you need to search for any information, you can go to the search bar on the left side of the web page.

There are different subjects for you to choose.

For example, if I want to search on shopping, cooking and meal planning, I will arrive at the web page shown below.

From here, you can choose to go into the information you are looking for.

There are also different tabs on the websites. One of them is FAQ, which means, frequently asked questions.

If people hav any questions to asked, they might be able to find and get answers from here.

This website provides a lot of information on food and nutrition. Thus, it is a useful website.

I feel that this website is more suitable for upper secondary students who are doing research for their course work, or even teachers who want more information to teach their students.

This website is also quite colourful and it is being organised quite well.

I will recommend this website to students and even to teachers.

I believe everyone are aware about this particular
special diet group of people : VEGETARIANS
[inclusive of lacto, semi and vegans] .

Yes. I know what you are thinking!

Why did I pick such a mature-looking website?

Because I have an immersed interest in DISEASES.

It sparked off from a core module which I took for my Diploma..

Yes yes. Nutrition in Diseases.

It is kind of paranormal to know that how innocent-looking food can twirl one's health around its little pinkie.

Personal Recommendation:

More suitable for students of a higher level such as Upper Secondary.

A very good and acurate source of information.

For anyone that has a immersed interest in FoodBorne illness.

The site honestly do look boring- loads of information with no animation or lack of visual aids.

Each tab would bring you to topics under the particular-related category. Under Diseases and Conditions, I have found certain conditions such as ADHD that are closely in-tie with our classroom management module. Hence, this site has once again proved its practicality :)

Overall, I am for this site in terms of acquiring general knowledge. The information found in the site is reliable as it is provided and managed by a Governmant Organisation.

However, in terms of Food and Nutrition, this site would not be the best candidate as the information are pretty brief and somewhat lack of visual attraction- not a excellent teaching tool.

I was doing a random search when I chanced upon this webbie!

THE HOT POTATO website

which talks about nothing but POTATOES!

Okay, that might not have sounded interesting but its "one" of my immersed interest yet again :)

This website is created and managed by a company in the private sector- FAST FOOD INC.

They sell POtatoes with all sorts of delicious toppings. It is always nice to know that someone else shares the same feitish for potatoes :)

Sorry, I need to sidetrack.. Is it even possible to come up with so many choices of topping? I mean.. is it even normal to think of so many million ways to flavourise a potato?

Back to topic..

As I was saying, this site is managed by a profit-making company, thus the site may be subjected to some form of bias.

However, there is no need for negligence about the potato facts and nutritive values the site provides.

The site is easy to nagivate and access to.

It is an interesting site to explore considering the fact that a big part of the world consume potatoes as their staple food.

However, I would not recommend it to students or teachers as the site's main purpose does not serve to inform in nutrition aspects.

This is a good site if...

You want to know about different toppings that can act as accompaniment to potatoes
You want to know the nutritive value of potatoes
You are a potato fanatic

I thought it would be another website full of information. But I'm wrong.

It's like another Amazon or Ebay, that sells products. I took some time to browse through it and realise one difference, between Learning Seed and Amazon, which is Learning Seed sells DVDs that are related to Food Studies and Consumer Studies.

I find this site very cool and really helpful, because it's quite difficult to search and buy videos that are related to Home Economics. I feel lucky to do a review on this website through E-learning, because I have a chance to get hold of these wonderful videos that I can use in my teaching when I serve my bond. Anyway, the topics are nicely categorized under 'Browse By Subject' at the left side of the page which I think it's convenient to buyer.

If you want to quickly locate for a particular video, you can use the search box.

Under the International Orders, I realise we do not have exclusive distributors for Learning Seed's products here in Singapore. Thus, if you would like a quote on shipping, you would have to email them. This also applies when you have questions or special requests.

By looking at the range of products, you can conclude that this online shopping site is created just for the ladies out there.

But guys, it does not mean that you are not allowed here. You can always surprise your wife or girlfriend with gifts by buying it online here.

The idea of selling gift voucher is rarely seen in online shopping as many exclude it out from their marketing tactic. If you have a friend whose birthday is near and also loves to shop online in SweetGift, gift voucher is a good alternative.

However, I feel that the number of apparels in Sweet Sakura & Fashion Style sections is quite limited (at least 1 page of apparels in each section), as compared to those established, well-known online shops, such as Victoria Secrets whereby they have a lot of apparels for the customers to choose from (at least 4 pages of apparels in each section).

a) Signing up / Logging in

SweetGift requires all customers to open their account, so as to do a follow up after you have confirmed the buying and keep track of all sales.

If you are first time customer, you will be brought to My Account Information page for the filling in of personal particulars.

b) Selecting Dress

Specification of the dress will be stated.

Eg. Chest Size: 36cm across, Shoulder Width: 47cm across, Total Length (down) excluding strap: 81cm

If you like it and want to buy, you add it to cart.

However, you cannot choose the colour of the dress.

Pro: You may feel that it is an one-and-only dress, since it comes in that specific colour and design.

Con: Some people will meet into a situation whereby the colour of the dress is not their preferred colour or does not match to their skin tone. Therefore, they may end up regretting not being able to buy that dress due to the colour unavailability.

c) Selecting the payment mode and shipping method you prefer (will be covered later)

You will see one of these terms when checking its status.

Order Received – Order has been received and will be verified shortly.
Pending payment via InterBank – Awaiting Cusomer’s payment via Bank Transfer.

I feel that SweetGift's Terms and Conditions is a place where customers are informed, assured, and caution.

Why do I say that?

You will be informed of how the parcels are confirmed, priced and sent and the kind of payment mode SweetGift accepts. In addtion, you are assured of their goods that are in 'excellent condition for sale'. You can also expect that 'utmost care' is given when SweetGift packs and wraps your goods so as to avoid any damages in the mail process before they delivers.

Warranty conditions will also be given when you receive the parcel. SweetGift will ensure billing accuracy by 'manually checked for errors'. This really boost the customers' confidence in them as we know that they try their very best to minimise billing error.

SweetGift warned the customers that they do not allow cancellation of orders, exchange or refund once the customer has 'confirmed, submitted or paid' the order. I think they want the customers to be responsible for their decisions after confirming the order.

My cousins were the ones who intoduced this website to me, because they wanted to buy some clothes and shoes. So, they asked me to join in, as there would be free shipping if you spend over a certain amount of money. Forever 21 also sell a variety of stuff that I like.

Therefore, people can find what they want easily.
